Yet Casper Smart's body language on their latest VIP sunning venture appeared genuine and loving.
The 25-year-old was seen reaching out to the former American Idol judge - who turns 43 on Monday - to stroke her affectionately with his foot while tapping away on his mobile phone.

Dressed in a lemon bikini, J Lo lay back and sheltered her face while gazing in Smart's direction.
As they relaxed during a tour break against the scenic backdrop of Fortaleza, north Brazil, the pair seemed devoted and remarkably comfortable in one another's company.
Hopeless romantic and three-times divorcee Lopez recently hinted that she wouldn't be opposed to yet another marriage, implying Casper is next in line to walk her down the aisle.

When asked if she would ever say 'I do' again, the mother-of-two told Good Morning America: 'Yes, for me the biggest dream is the fairytale. I will never give up on that dream.
'It can be difficult for anybody who has to stand by my side, but at the end of the day I know that I deserve that.'
Meanwhile, cementing his first public comments about their relationship, Smart told the breakfast show it was not love at first sight and their romance blossomed in an organic fashion.
He said: 'It was just very natural, you know, natural how it happened. There was nothing before, no flirting, nothing.'
