After beating out 13,000 other contestants, Mallory Hytes Hagan won the beauty pageant of Miss America.
And she also earned the highest scores in the swimsuit contest while Miss New York ultimately crushed her competition for the crown.
Hagan wins a $50,000 college scholarship after defeated Miss South Carolina Ali Rogers in second side, and Miss Oklahoma Alicia Clifton, who finished third.
More over, the 23 year old gave her best performance during the Q & A segment of the competition. When asked about gun violence when it comes to recent school shootings such as in Newtown, CT, Mallory stated: “I don’t think the proper way to fight violence is with violence.”
